It’s Autumn Baby!
The leaves are falling. What could be more romantic?
The Fall is by far a favorite season here in the three peaks region. And for good reason.
The air is crisp. The skies are clear. The changing leaves begin to paint the mountainsides in quilt overlays of golds and reds. Firepits are a daily happening and coffee shops are buzzing with pumpkin spice everything!
Throw your bags in the car this weekend and head on up. Here are a few ideas to start your weekend itinerary check list.
Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway from Little Switzerland to Linville Falls. Take in the AMMMMAAAZZZING fews from the Blue Ridge Parkway on this stretch of America’s favorite drive. In under an hour you can grab lunch in Little Switzerland (be sure to grab a picnic to go for later), stop at the historic Orchard at Altapass for fresh apples along with apple fudge, live music, trails to hike and more! When you arrive at Linville Falls, hike to the falls then grab a picnic table or spread out your blanket for the perfect Fall picnic. If you have more time, stop in at Linville Caverns to explore the mountain underground!
Sunset Tour. Blue Ridge Outdoor Magazine named Roan Mountain one of the best sunset summits in WNC! Roan Mountain is located here in Mitchell County NC and offers more than just amazing views. From forested trails that open up to panoramic views to plant species that are found no where else int he world and to even rare species of birds…there are so many unique experiences and adventures to be had on Roan Mountain. It is also known for romantic elopements and engagements, so keep that in mind if you have a ring burning a hole in your pocket for your special one! Springmaid also offers mountain camps at their resort complete with a fishing pond, walking bridge (getting the Hallmark vibe yet?) and the river runs through it all! End your day with dinner in downtown Spruce Pine or listening to live music at the local brewery or 50’s drive in restaurant. (Please tag us in your trip photos! Hallmark may be watching! )
