When you come to visit us here in the Three Peaks region of Western North Carolina, you are in the center of the three most popular and exciting peaks in North Carolina.
Sitting between the oldest mountains of Grandfather Mountain, the tallest peak east of the Mississippi Mt. Mitchell and the largest naturally growing rhododendron garden in the world atop Roan Mountain, our area is full of hundreds of trails, hikes to breathtaking views, flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world and so many more adventures to discover.
Our communities of Spruce Pine, Bakersville and Little Switzerland are situated between the Appalachian Trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway, directly in the center of the Three Peaks. We are centrally located between Asheville, Boone, Hickory and Johnson City…so you will find the serene solitude and natural surroundings you are seeking in a mountain getaway but still close to the hustle and bustle of a large city if you need that as well.
You can take a day per Peak and explore all that it has to offer then settle back in at your mountain lodge, inn, or B&B and enjoy a great meal, a fire pit conversation, live music, or a simple drink on the balcony overlooking the majestic Blue Ridge mountains.
You will also find that you are in the center of one of a world renown arts community with hundreds of artist studios and dozens of galleries in addition to weekly art walks, pottery markets and bi-annual studio tours. We are home to more artists per capita than any other area in the country! You can meet the artists in their studios, pick up pottery, handblown glass, weavings, paintings, wood working…the list goes on…to add to your home or give as a gift.
Bring the whole family and enjoy unique activities like gem mining for treasures, horseback riding our mountain trails and tubing our local rivers! Explore historic locations like heritage apple orchards where you can pick your own apples!
Make this the year you check the Three Peaks off of your bucket list! Come see us and let us help you plan a one-of-a-kind authentic mountain getaway with your family and friends.
