Celebrate the Season in the Mountains

The holiday season is a time to celebrate with family and friends, to enjoy holiday traditions and discover a few new ones!  The chances of experiencing a white Christmas in Mitchell County is pretty high and we have just the setting for a family holiday to remember. Take in a few of our holiday highlights this December.

Choose and Cut your Own Christmas Tree

Located in the Christmas Tree Capital of the world, our region is known for its beautiful Christmas Trees. Just last month the White House Christmas Tree was chosen from a tree farm just up the road from Mitchell County in Newland.  Make your trek to our area to experience choosing and cutting your own tree this year.  Chamber member Sugar Plum Farms offers a unique family experience with hot cocoa, wagon rides, bonfires with s’mores a holiday gift shop and a beautiful tree farm setting.

With the Appalachian Trail running right through the area, you can bet the views and the hiking are exceptional. Be sure to bring your camera!
